Pouahh!

Petite semaine bien pressée de fraicheur avec pulpe et plein de saveur!

This week was the second and last introductory week of the program. Due to the wide spectrum of engineering background in the program - chemical, agricultural, mechanical, aerospatial, architectural and civil - a certain levelization of electrical knowledge was necessary to introduce, to some, the feats of using devices such as an oscilloscope, multimeters, thermocouples and so on.

Even though the tasks appeared trivial to ones, Udo - tall stereotypical German scientist possessing an insatiable scientific hunger – was avid in questioning all’s understanding and highlighting the intricacies of simple matters. While being quite an intimidating character, it is believed that he has a sense of humor, I have thus taken upon this mission to extract eigenvalues of laughter from him.

Secondo on the Faculty, Evelyne. With Udo, she is responsible for the laboratory activities and she takes lengthy measures to meet air quality standard in every room we use. It has recently been noticed that a certain enmity exists between the two acolytes and her soft temperament does not seem to match Udos dictatorship. Unfortunately for her, a passive surrender is typically the result of their feats where the antagonist finally imposes his reign upon the student body. It all sounds very dramatic, but really it is mostly funny.

Suffice now for the introductions. More to come as personalities are revealed.

How shall one profit from a non profit event while drinking? Well, one must read german or at least the word – Pfand: deposit – in order to successfully capitalize. That is where the Cuellar factor comes into play. He, of his first name Alberto, met the B factor last week. Already, a strange bond highly correlated to the fu/Vk exists. The guy is too hilarious, and enlightened my intoxicated mind that 0.5€ was given to the bearer of the beer once he has returned the chalice of hops to the bar. An enterprise to sanitize the premises was soon undertaken by the duo. And coins soon filled our pockets – proceeds – 36€ for me and 68€ to the master of disaster.

Alberto Cuellar - Expressing himself at full amplitude

Now on to the green matter. Tomorrow or today, as I look at the clock, is our first excursion to Bremen, where we will get to visit 5MW wind mill. Sitting up around 65m high, the Nacelle secures rotating blades of an impressive length. Details to come in my next report! Also of interest will be the visit to ENERCON production facilities and windfarm as well as a visit of an 120 year old wind mill still under operation. This should be interesting and quite educational. Last but not the least will be a quick stop at wind test-field of German Wind Energy Institute.

Upon my return I shall upload some pixelised representations of our trip.

Ciao bye!

PS. Electricity 101. If your apparatus operates at 60Hz, 110V and you neglect these details and feed it with 50Hz, 120V, a fume may be emitted but no genie...I used to have a razor...
